David was a man who didn't conform, he held strong in his opinions and values. He did the right thing in times of despair. I had grown close to Dave since the passing of Arthur Saenz in 2015. I met Dave when I was 7 years old when he shot me with a stick and I fell on the ground and pretended I was dead. He was my brother and as time passed and we grew older/wiser, he became my friend. Initially, it was my responsibility to watch over him & teach him. In our later years, I found that the roles had been reversed. Toward the end, I found that I was the one who learned from him. For that, I will always be grateful.
