David was a man who didn't conform, he held strong in his opinions and values. He did the right thing in times of despair. I had grown close to Dave since the passing of Arthur Saenz in 2015. I think of him often, and despise the fact that he is gone. I sought advice and counsel in his opinions, and we shared a sense of viscosity in life. We tended to agree on majority of situations, and I could vibrantly see him mellow in person as he aged. He had many similarities to his father, and for that he will always be thought of fondly.

I met Dave when I was 7 years old when he shot me with a stick and I fell on the ground and pretended I was dead. That was the beginning of a long and wonderful friendship, from that point on we were inseparable. He was my best friend, my big brother and mentor. He taught me how to be competitive and helped mold who I am today. His family was my second family, Dave, his Dad and brothers taught me about sports, how to play baseball, football, basketball and hockey. I got him into music playing bass guitar and we started a band and played parties. We enjoyed just hanging out and dreaming about the future, sleep overs in the garage under the ping pong table, working at McDonalds, concerts, surfing and so much more. I have so many memories, I could go on and on all thanks to my time with Dave. I was truly blessed to have him in my life and to call him my friend.

He was my brother and as time passed and we grew older/wiser, he became my friend. Initially, it was my responsibility to watch over him & teach him. In our later years, I found that the roles had been reversed. Toward the end, I found that I was the one who learned from him. For that, I will always be grateful.
