Not sure what to say?

My memories of David go back 76 of the 80 years he was my cousin, 56 of those years as David and Arlene. From a young age David knew how to make others feel comfortable. This trait persisted decade after decade of his life. It intertwined with another characteristic, namely that being with David often led to delightful adventures or discoveries, a richness that gave joy to others. The first adventure came with a 1940s family visit to Troy. Knowing none of the larger people we found in...

In memory of David, thoughts go out to his caring and loving family, who will be celebrating their first Christmas without him. It is the year of "the firsts" in which each and every celebration holds a poignant memory. I will always remember David, for he was special. I am thinking of you all and wishing you a peaceful holiday season. My best, Patricia

David was a great person and a good friend. He will be greatly missed , but his accomplishments will live forever. With deep sympathy. Ed McMahon

I'll always remember Dave's kindness and interest in grass-roots community groups. When I moved to the Hudson Valley in the late 1990's I started a community bicycle program in Red Hook. Dave read about it in the paper and called me up, expressing great enthusiasm and support. It was from him that I first learned about the Greenway movement, which inspired me to apply for my first "real" job at Scenic Hudson. Thank you, Dave. My sincere condolences to members of the family. A kind and great...

We were lucky to have Dave as a neighbor for many years. We shared good times and laughter with Dave and Arlene. We express our deepest sympathy to Arlene, the boys and their families. He will be greatly missed. Our love, the O'Haire Family

Dave was a great leader among conservationists in the Hudson Valley. He was also a kind person and very supportive of young professionals. He opened doors for me which I will always appreciate. Fran Dunwell

Arlene and family, Mary and I extend our deepest condolences at David's passing. He contributed so much to so many, both at NYSDEC, where he worked (with me and others on these pages) directly and indirectly over many years, and elsewhere through the environmental community. It was really a career within a career and we are much the better for it. He was a gracious, thoughtful, funny, story-telling guy who you needed to have around. He taught me a thing or two during his tenure as a...

Arlene, Christopher and Jamie, My heartfelt sympathy. My thoughts are with you as you find strength and peace in the many memories you share, of your dearly loved, David. Always loved his presence, his kindness and the smile that came with his greeting. One thing I know for sure David made the world a better place. Sending my love.
