David Smart Obituary
61, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully on March 31, 2014 due to surgical complications. He was born in Burlington, NC, September 2, 1952 to Percy and Irene Smart. David grew up in Graham, NC and graduated from Appalachian State University before completing his Master's degree in Psychology at University of Nebraska. David started his career as a therapist for Boys Town in Nebraska. He then went on to work for Rapha, a Christian inpatient treatment center in Houston, Texas and was responsible for bringing the program to Scottsdale, AZ. In Arizona, he transitioned to the Director for Camelview Counseling Center before eventually starting his own successful private practice in family and marriage counseling. David was a strong man of faith, multi-talented individual, and highly compassionate person. He cared deeply and loved all those connected to his life. He was a talented and passionate musician and songwriter, playing several musical instruments and organized the music services for the Saturday worship service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. You would often find David humming a tune, strumming a guitar, or playing a song on the piano which filled the home with much warmth and love. David is survived by his loving wife, Linda, son Jeremy and wife Jennifer and granddaughter Madelyn, step-son Aaron Lohmeyer and wife Micha, father Percy, brother Garry and wife Jodi and Katy kitty. David is preceded by his mother Irene. Visitation will be held Friday, April 4th at 10:30 - 1130 A.M. at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 North Hayden Rd, Scottsdale AZ 85257. Memorial services will follow at 1:30 P.M. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3110 North Hayden Scottsdale AZ 85251. www.greenacresmortuary.net. Sorry to hear about this loss to Linda, Jeremy, and all of David's family. I knew David and Linda many years ago when they were in Houston at HAP. I just happen to have them on my mind for some reason today and found this. May God be with you and my David' soul rest in peace. Godspeed.

My deepest condolences to David's family and friends. He was called to be a counselor and musician and answered that call with grace and compassion. He had amazing faith and I'm sure he'll be loving you all from heaven.

I have only been at Holy Cross less than a year, but I remember being truly blessed by David's worship music at the Saturday night service. (I helped create the PowerPoint slides for a while last summer.) I feel truly blessed to have met and worshipped our Lord with him. I pray that Jesus Himself would hold all of you in His loving arms of comfort. May you be blessed with His peace and have joy at the thought of David playing and singing in heaven with Jesus! David provided me with great strength and guidance since the loss of my husband in 2007. I am honored to have known him and will deeply miss his ongoing counseling and support. My thoughts are with his family and hope comfort can be found in knowing the positive influence he had on so many lives.

I have been a client for fourteen years. David brought much wisdom, strength, compassion and intelligence to his practice. Words cannot express how deeply, deeply sad I am for his loss. I send wishes of condolences to his wife and family. He will be missed more than you can imagine. He was a rock of strength to me in many times of distress and anguish. How I will miss him and his guidance.
