Working alongside Captain Dave Stavrum for many years, I quickly learned that his gruff exterior masked a kind soul. Our daily meetings were filled with efficient discussions peppered with humorous insults, a unique camaraderie that blossomed over time. Dave and I go way back,1974 approximately, he transfered from St. Cloud, I transfered from Stillwater. We got positions when Lino was transferring from a juvenile detention center to at that time a minimum security center. We first met in training for new CO'S at Lino..we had rotating shifts, every two weeks Days Evening's and Nights. I was assigned to Carver cottage and Dave got to be the CC2 on the Roving Patrol, checking on staff in all the Cottages. He was promoted to CC3 I was Promoted...
