It remains so hard to believe that Dave is no longer with us. I will always remember the great times at CPD!

David was a one of a kind man. His heart and home were open to anyone who he met. His friendship and guidance meant the world to me and he influenced me more than he will ever know. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My condolences to David´s family. I knew David for many years. He used to work details and traffic while I worked for New England Telephone Co. His sense of humor was great. We became good friends. I worked a short time under his supervision at the Court House. He will definitely be missed by all that knew him. May He Rest In Peace. David C. Collins

I am saddened to learn of Dave's passing. We were sworn in to CPD together in 1967. Though I was older, both being Navy vets, we were fast friends and spent time together off the job. Dave was a mischievous man with a great sense of humor, and one had to be alert to what he was up to next. Though I moved on from CPD, we remained friends and continued to prank one another. Dave served his country and his community honorably. He was a good Cop. I will keep Dave and his family in my...

I loved hearing stories about Dave. Before I met him I was told he used to wear a red hunting jacket on midnights as a patrolman, that he was the bomb guy for CPD, and he wore several knives hidden on his uniform. I was a bit wary of him. When I finally met him I found him to be warm, friendly, with a great sense of humor. He will be missed. I'm not sure of how many of the stories are true, but I hope they were. RIP.
