Not sure what to say?

Dave and I shared an apartment at William & Mary. My wife had a crush on him. Among his many talents, Dave played the cello. During some of his years, he had long dark hair and a beard. I can still see Dave, like it was yesterday, dressed up in his tuxedo, long hair and beard, carrying his cased cello to his car, headed off to a concert! I will miss Dave Vogan!!

Our sincere condolences to you Chip and to Barbara for the loss of your brother and brother-in-law. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow. While we never met David it sounds as if he had a great handle on life and touched the lives of so many people. May the Lord especially be with you during this time of loss.

From 1960 to 1968 in Lakewood, David was my next-door neighbor and very good friend. We did a lot together. We camped out in his back yard, wrestled, played football, boated, crabbed and swam up and down the Lafayette River. When we were in Jr. High School, our wrestling hero was Joe Boone. Neither of us knew that Joe would one day be married to David's wife, Judy. I have nothing but fond memories of my long-ago friendship with David Vogan. I look forward to walking over heaven with him some...

Although I knew he was ill, I am nonetheless shocked today to read of David's passing. I met him only once--at dinner with his sister, Judy, and brother-in-law Joe. He was such a kind person and such a gentleman. I know how much his family loved him and what a void will be left in their lives. I'm so sorry I didn't know that he was living his last days. We are never ready to say good'bye to our loved ones no matter what the cirumstance. I hope you will call me, Judy, when you can. ...

To: The Vogan Family, Sincerest condolences on the passing of your dearest brother David Nicholas, What a gracious and intelligent gentleman! His contributions certainly made the world a much better place, James & April Thompson, (Old Granby High School Alumni) Hendersonville, North Carolina

Met David years ago in the DC area. We shared a respect for life, nature and the animal kingdom. Shall
miss our long conversations with a kind and sensitive friend.

Since I have met David in Minneapolis I have always cherished our special friendship which has included meeting in Europe and visiting with him in Williamsburg and Washington DC. I have lived long conversations on the phone, listening to his voice, enjoying his humor, his calmness and his empathy. For me he is one of the few persons I have met with `stars in the eyes`. Frequently he told me ` I am enjoying the ride`.

I'm so thankful for the many memories of David through elementary, junior high, and high school. He was always kind, gentle, considerate, and willing to help others. He was quite the preservationist and archivist, what a great steward he was! At every reunion or mini reunion he always showed up with pictures of days gone by, and stories with details that many of us had forgotten. We will miss you dear friend!
