David Whiting Obituary

David Hope Anderson Whiting David Hope Anderson Whiting was born in Dallas, Texas Aug. 10, 1922 on Alcalde Street, to Sallie and Winslow Anderson. She was the fifth of eight children. She passed away in Austin Texas on February 22, 2011. Hope is survived by her husband of 67 years, Billy Whiting, her daughter Cathy Kidd, son-in-law Bill Kidd, son Mark Whiting, and daughter-in-law Penny Whiting. Grandchildren Ben Kidd and his spouse Katherine Alonso, Rebecca Kidd Barnes and her spouse Rob Barnes, Anna Whiting, Lauren Whiting, Alex Torres, and great-grandson Caleb Alonso Kidd, all of Austin, Texas. Surviving siblings are James Anderson of Dallas Texas and Beth Whatley of Rocky Mount North Carolina. Hope took great pride in her home of 50 years in Dallas Texas. Her residence on Lovers Lane was the center of many family gatherings. She was an accomplished artist. Her needlework, tapestries, paintings and other creations and collections decorated her home. Declining health caused Hope and her beloved husband Billy to move to Austin, where they lived with their son Mark and his wife Penny. Hope was lovingly cared for until her death. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26 at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow, 3:00 p.m. at Grove Hill Cemetery 4118 Samuell Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75228. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Tabernancle Baptist Church, P.O. Box 561783, Dallas, Texas 75356-1783.
