I will never forget the "moment" I made eye contact with Mr. Wolper during tryouts for the 1984 olympics. I was in the finals to be a placard bearer in the opening ceremonies and as I was marching in a circle I looked at Mr. Wolper and he looked at me and we both smiled at each other and I knew at that moment that I made it. His warm smile will be forever in my mind, what a wonderful man!

looking back now..i realize what a huge and privileged experience it was to work for David in that heyday of the mid-60's. he was a hard-driving boss who I didn't think at the time had much regard for my work..the 3 pictures I did for him at the time. I ended up eventually going back into TV news..where I always belonged anyway.
but years later..cruising the Delta w/ Gloria..he saw me on the news one night..detoured the boat to Sacramento..and asked me down for lunch. we ate and...

I met Mr. Wolper in 1966; I went to his appartment to connect a stereo. He and his wife were very friendly and got a good laugh at my lack of knowledge about the television series Batman. When I was finished he asked me how long I had been working for the store I was employed by at the time and I told him it was just a part time thng as I was a senior in electronic engineering at Cal Poly Pomona. He asked me a lot of questions about school and when I told him I was working on my senior...

To my dearest friend Leslie, and her brothers Mark and Michael, may your fathers genius and vision live on in you.

Dear Wolper family and friends may God who sees your tears and pain of heart comfort and strengthen you to go from one day to the next in this time of such deep sorrow. For He is with those who are broken at heart and those who are crushed in spirit He saves

I never had the pleasure of meeting David Wolper but he touched my life as a child when mom made us watch "Roots". I wish the TV stations would show it again so my grandchildren could watch it. GOD be with Davids family and know he touched many lives.
