Jackson
Davis R. Johns, Jr., 57, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM with a graveside service to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park officiated by Dr. Bobby Dungan.
Davis started cleaning floors at McRae's Dept. Store in Westland Plaza while attending Mississippi College. He then advanced to store manager over Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana for a span of 35 years. He enjoyed fishing with his friends on his days off.
He is survived by his wife, Sacia Johns; parents, Davis R. Johns, Sr. and Nettie Johns; daughters, Taylor Rae and Shelby Catherine Johns; brother, Ruston M. Johns; sister, Carol Johns Reeves (Jon); nephew, Peyton and niece, Kailey.

To My Dear Sweet Friend Nettie, I cannot imagine how you must feel losing a child but we know that he is in a better place, where you will meet him again one day. I will always remember you & your family when we lived as back-next-door-neighbors in the Queens neighborhood & I learned to love you so much. Davis was such a handsome young man & I know you were so proud of him. The Lord must have needed him for some good reason to take him while he was so young. My prayers and sympathies to Davis's wife, children and family. We were friends when we worked at McRaes in Jackson over 20 years ago. I will always remember his sense of humor and smile.

I am so sorry for your loss Mr Davis and Mrs Nettie. I can still see Davis catching a big mess of fish out of my pond. It was definitely a huge passion of his. Our prayers are with you and your family.

My heart is saddened by Davis' passing; I have fond memories of Davis, MBHS and our senior class. Davis was always one of the "good guys" and he will be truly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the Johns family.
