Gerda M. Edelstein, 85, formerly of New Providence N.J., and recently of West Milford N.J., died peacefully on September 10, 2025, with her family by her side at Chilton Hospital in Pompton Plains, N.J.
Gerda was predeceased by both of her parents, and her siblings Wolfgang and Horst, her son, Thomas (2012), and her husband, Jack (2020). She leaves behind her son, John and his wife, Kim of West Milford, N.J., and their children, Althea and Arden and her son, Peter and wife, Tracy of Lake Worth, Florida and their children, Emily, Katelyn and Ryan. She also leaves behind her brother Heinz and sister Dorothea “Pippi” Traub of Germany, and several brothers and sisters in laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Gerda will be remembered as a good, generous, honorable woman who loved her family more than anything by leading by example through the toughest times.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes.org in Gerda M. Edelstein's name. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, Butler, N.J., themorrisonfuneralhome.com
