Phillip "Phil" Decker, born on December 24, 1934, in Butler, NJ, passed away on October 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love. As Captain of the Borough of Butler Police Department, Phil was not only a leader in law enforcement but also a trusted figure in the community he cherished. His commitment to the safety and well-being of others marked his distinguished career, highlighting his devotion to both his profession and his hometown.
Phil proudly served in the military, embodying the values of courage and integrity that remained with him throughout his life. These characteristics were evident in every aspect of his work and family life, earning him the respect of his peers and admiration from the community he served. In his spare time he enjoyed to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Decker (Kaczor), and their sons: Philip K. Decker, Steven Decker and his wife Christy, Jeffery Decker, Wesley Decker and his wife Nancy, and Wayne Decker and his wife Camille. Phil is also survived by his brother, Paul Struble and his wife Elaine. Phil took great joy in being a grandfather, and he leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Steven, Lindsey, Kelly, Jillian, Dana, and Jarrett. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and their love and support shaped the man he was.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Ernie Struble. His absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A memorial gathering will be held in his honor on November 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, located at 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together, share memories, and celebrate the remarkable life of Phillip Decker. As we remember Phil, we honor his dedication to duty, his unwavering love for his family, and the indelible impact he made on the lives of those around him.
