I also played tennis with Derek (and his father before his untimely passing) at the Weston Tennis Club in the 1970's. He was a great guy and we enjoyed many good moments on the courts. Also saw him and his dad at Balm Beach where they vacationed a few times. Condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of coaching baseball at Eringate in Etobicoke with Derek for many years, particularly in the 1990s. Derek was not only a great coach but a great influence on the players and everyone involved in the game. He was very positive and very knowledgeable. Derek had a smile for everyone and was a wonderful person to be around. His legacy is the positive influence he had on everyone with whom he came into contact. Rest in peace Coach.
