Dixie Self

Dixie was a dear friend at North Central High School. We were both in Red Feathers which was lots of fun. She was so pleased when I came to know the Lord in Spring of 1964. She was the epitome of kindness and sweetness. Mark Twain defined kindness as the language the deaf can hear and the blind can see. Dixie reflected that type of kindness. Thank you, Lord, for my friend Dixie.

It was not until I became a mother myself that I fully understood what a gift my mom was. Motherhood gave me the clarity to see her patience, her sacrifices, and the depth of her love in a way I couldn´t see before. What once felt ordinary revealed itself as extraordinary. Dixie was perfect in her imperfections. It was her grounded, redeeming qualities that made her truly beautiful.
