Sad to hear this. Don achieved much in his life. My company is also at First Flight Venture Center where Endacea his company is located and had the benefit of his insight.

I first met Don at a local Chinese restaurant, while discussing submarines with the owner. Don perked up, and that started his association with the local Subvet Tarheel Base. Don really enjoyed the camraderie of the fellow Subvets. We traded info on submarines.
Our condolences to Connie, who maintained care for Don. A real trooper.
Will miss Don.

Dear Connie,
What an amazing person Don was.
It was a pleasure & an honor to care for him.
We are so sorry for your loss.
Rest assured, we are in this battle for the long term--and sense progress now and on the horizon, against Merkel cell carcinoma. I am so sorry we did not have the right set of tools in place in time for Don.
Sincerely,
Paul Nghiem, MD

Distressing news. As an investor in Endacea I came to know, like and respect Don, and he will be sorely missed and well remembered.

While I did not have the honor of knowing or serving with Don, he is a fellow Eagle Scout as well as a Navy and Submarine Brother. Thank you for your service to your country sir, and now at long last sailor you have eternal fair winds and following seas. Our condolences to his family.

I'll never forget the hours Don spent with his metal detector helping me to find my lost earring - my first Mother's Day gift from my husband - when I lost it in the garden. He was my hero for doing that. Such a kind and thoughtful friend and neighbor. I am so sorry for your loss...

The obituary for Donald Wilson III caught my attention because I too have Merkel Cell Carcinoma. I wrote to the doctor cited in the obit, made a small contribution, and offered to share my experience if it would help his research. Coincidentally, I am a life long Episcopalian and have also been very active in the Episcopal Cursillo movement. I served on nineteen teams in the Diocese of Southern Virgina, was Lay director, and continue to group here in Cary. My brother was the Bishop of Alaska in the 1980's and was active in Cursillo there.
My wife and I have attended six or seven National Eisicopal Cursillo seminars.
I believe my MCC is currently in remission after several surgeries, chemo, and radiation. My care continues at Duke University.J. Brooks Harris, Colonel, USMC(Ret) ([email protected])

My sincere sympathy to the family. Don hired me to work for him at Black & Decker in 1979. It was one of the happiest days of my life. He was a wonderful man. I retired from Black & Decker last year. Rest in Peace Don. You will always hold a special place in my heart.
