Is this the Donald Busarow who formed the Detroit Lutheran Children Choir in the late 50s? And also played for the installation of Bishop Steven Bowman in the New York Metropolitan Synod in 1996? I was a member of that choir along with classmate Kathleen Buuck from Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, Allen Park MI. I recall someone perhaps a bit older, so I may be mistaken. (Children often think adults seemed "old.") In any event, our conductor was very good. I recall our first rehearsal and was stunned at the pure sound of 20 of the best children's voices in the city singing "Beautiful Savior." He and my mother, Grace (another organist/pianist), were good friends.

I am stunned! Don and I were music colleagues having met while we both served on the faculty for Lutheran Conferences in Worship during the 1980's. I always thought I would get to talk and laugh with him just one more time. To Peg and the family, I send my most sincere sympathies. Don would have us focus on the joy of the resurrection.

Dr Busarow is one of those teachers I will never forget! Gentle but firm, he always made me feel as though I was achieving something new every day. He was a very special mentor and I will always remember his kindness, patience, and support. He will be greatly missed. Cindy Abizaid-Rush (Herndon, VA '80)

To Peggy and Family:

Those we hold most dear never truly leave us
------------ THEY LIVE ON -----------
in the kindnesses they showed and the love
they brought into our lives.

May beautiful memories give you and yours
strength in these difficult times.

Eternal rest grant unto him, Oh, Lord and let
perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest
in peace for eternity. Amen

Dr. B was one of the greatest men of God I have ever known. Sitting under his direction in the Witt Choir was instrumental in the development of making my faith my own. He will be deeply missed, but, alas, he is home, with his Lord and Savior. I am praying for you, Peggy, and all of your kids during this time of great loss. I hold onto the look on his face during Wondrous Cross. I saw heaven on his face then and I know he has made it. "Well done, my good and faithful servant"
