Not sure what to say?

I was called to the medical advisor for the 18 missions of the North America Southwest Area of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints under Dr. Doty. He was a great mentor. One young elder in the Houston Mission fell off his bike and was hospitalized. He was as diagnosed with valve destroying bacterial endocarditis. Although there were world famous cardio thoracic surgical centers in Houston the family insisted the young man be returned to Salt Lake City- the only problem was that no...

He saved my life. Because of his blessed hands, I have lived 22 years more than I had before he fixed my heart. I have a child because he fixed my heart. I have his awesome work in my heart, and I depend on the awesome work he did on my heart every day I wake up alive. He is, no doubt, in a wonderful, blessed place.

Dr. Doty was my surgeon when I was one years old. That was in April 1974. I had double outlet syndrome and transposition of the greater vessel. I recently was reading my operative reports and was amazed with his talent and attribute my life to him. I was sorry to hear about his passing but wanted to share my gratitude to his family. I i´ve been in the United States Navy for 24 years and loved reading his biography and learning about his time as a military physician as well. I´m currently the...

We missed this, I know not why, but we still love and miss you!

I`m sorry to hear about Dr. Doty's passing.
I was studying heart surgery under his guidance in 1988. I was an international student from Osaka, Japan.
I remember his surgical skill, deep medical knowledge and humanity. I also have seen his wife Cheryl and his son David (when he is a boy).
Many memories of my time in SLC have been revived.

Belated my condolences to his family.

February, 2021. Just found out about Don's passing. What an amazing and service filled life. --His son, Dr. David Doty, saved my brother-in-laws life when he performed heart surgery. --Wonderful family. Dr. Ken Molen

I am so sorry to hear about the passing last year of Dr. Don Doty. I didn't have much contact with him after he retired from surgery but all these years later still consider him a major influence in my life. I got to know Dr. Doty as a sales representative for medical devices used by him to do heart surgery at LDS Hospital. He was a true leader in his field of Cardiovascular surgery and was held in very high regard by surgeons all over the world. He was an impressive man. His influence...

I loved working with Dr. Doty on C-33 at the University of Iowa. He was such a kind, gentle man and outstanding surgeon. I remember hearing residents speak in awe of his skills in the OR.
And then we got to experience his skills first hand, when our daughter Janelle was born with Transposition of the Great Vessels. He operated on her when she was 5 1/2 months old and weighed 11 pounds. We have kept him updated over the years of her progress. He always called her the poster child of...
