Don Houchens or as he was known by many as “Coach” was a truly a great person. He was always there if you needed anything. I was glad I got to talk with him just a few days before he passed. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. RIP my friend.

I met Don in 1982. He was the PE teacher at Bayview. Don and I came from two different worlds. He was a Southern Boy and I was a Yankee. Don was the kindest and most thoughtful person you would ever meet. We had instant chemistry and respect for each other. He loved the students and the community and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do to help a child. He also helped the principal. He was always supportive and a team player. He will be missed by all who knew him. REST in Peace my...
