Donald Lancaster Obituary

Donald Perry Lancaster January 25, 1935 – September 2, 2012 Don Lancaster passed away September 2, 2012, at the Hospice Care Center. He was 77. Don was born in January 25, 1935, in Ogden, UT to Perry C. and Agnes C. Lancaster. He spent his childhood in Ogden and later moved to Denver, CO in 1948. He graduated from Regis Jesuit High School in Denver and attended Regis College. He married Marie (Walsh) Mott and they later divorced. He met Nancy L. Lowe, who worked for Don's brother Dave, and they married on July 20, 1974, in Denver, CO. Don was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had previously lived in Parker, CO. Don owned and operated an Industrial Supply Company for 35 years. After retiring in 1995, the family moved to Palisade, CO. Don volunteered from 1997 to the present at the Catholic Outreach where he was an interviewer and maintenance engineer. He gave great comfort to many people, (sometimes playing jokes) and built strong memorable relationships. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and many outdoor activities. Because of his strong love of family his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Nancy L. Lancaster of Palisade; seven sons, Mike (Kathy) Lancaster of Glenwood Springs, CO; Pat (Deb) Lancaster of Elizabeth, CO; Bill (Donna) Lancaster of Goldendale, WA; Tim (Ellen) Lancaster of Kiowa, CO; Jake (Sandy) Lancaster of Magna, UT; Chris (Cindy) Lancaster of Mountain Home, ID, and Tony (Roxanne) Lancaster of Middleton, ID; a daughter, Annie (Rich) Belfiore of Roxborough Park, CO; a brother, Dave Lancaster of Grand Junction, CO; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Marilyn Lancaster and a niece, Paula Lancaster. A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 13, 2012, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Valley Catholic Outreach, 245S. 1st Street, Grand Junction, CO 81501 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090 B N 12th Street, Unit B, Grand Junction, CO 81506. Nancy, Family and Friends
Don was one of my Best friends and I am going to miss him very much. While I use to shoe Don's horses we would talk politics and solve the worlds problems in few hours. He talked about the Catholic Outreach with passion and I loved to here the stories of all the many people he worked with. Some of the stories was sad and some very funny. It seemed that every person that was down and out in Grand Junction new Don and would light up when they saw him. Don was a true christian and has impacted my life in a very positive way. We love Nancy too. She has the same impact in our lives.

Will be greatly missed!

Don put people immediately at ease with his smile and sense of humor. He made sacrifices for family and strangers and was a great partiarch to a family of quality individuals. He has touched lives beyond our recognition and his influence will be felt for generations. Thank you, Don, for your example of love of life and love for others.
