DR. DONALD CHUA LIU

Dr Donald Liu- great human, great soul, we will miss your humanity for ever.

My heart is so deeply sadden. Looking through pictures, I came across Children Hospital of New Orleans article on Dr.Lui and my daughter. So, I decided to search for Dr. Lui and came across topics of his death. 15 years ago my daughter was one of those kids who he ran to in the middle of the night for an emergence surgery that saved her life.

I just found out today about the tragic news. This world has lost such a fantastic person, that words can not describe.I am terribly saddened by the news,and shocked.When I heard he had passed, I wondered what had happened to him, and then I read about the heroic act that cost him his life. It didn't suprise me, because that was the kind of person he was, so kind and so giving. Our hearts and prayers go out to Dr. Liu's family and friends

Don was my mentor, boss, teacher, but most importantly, my best friend. I will cherish the 10 years I was his nurse. He taught me everything I know about caring for children and their families and for that, I will always be greatful. Thank you for everything Don. I will miss you so much.

I think I have thought about Dr. Liu, Dana and the children at least once everyday since he died. He is an inspiration to us all and although Dana and the children miss him terribly, they were so fortunate to have such a wonderful husband and father.

I remember Dr. Liu from Children's Hospital in New Orleans. His expertise as a surgeon was only surpassed by his compassion. In the end, he died doing what he did on a daily basis, saving children. God bless you Dr. Suskind and your beautiful children.

I never met the man, but, from what I've read about his career and life (and even his death), I wish I had. G-d bless his memory and bless his family.

There is no greater love than to give ones life for another.
August 5th of last year is when I lost my brother who jumped in the Fox River to help save a child's life.
