Donald Roberson Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Our beloved Dad, Grandpa and best friend, Donald Howell Roberson passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2004, he was 68 years old. Donald was born January 13, 1935, to parents James Earl Roberson and Willie Mae Gatlin Roberson who preceded him in death. He was owner of the security company that provided services at Barton Creek Lakeside Country Club where he had proudly worked since 1986. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1953 and attended Texas Tech University and The University of Texas at Austin. Don is survived by his four loving sons, Thomas Earl, Donald Christopher, William Louis and wife, Staci, and Timothy Paul; three grandsons, Tyler Jacob, William Louis II and Scott Pierce. Don is also survived by his brothers, James Darrel Roberson and wife, Johnnie of Austin, Gene Roberson and wife, Clara of Temple; and a sister, Bonnie Mae Cooper and husband, Tom of Hearne; and numerous nieces and nephews. Our family would also like to acknowledge Judith Jane Robert (ex-wife, mother, and great friend), and Edward Robert who are considered a part of our immediate and loving family. Don never met a stranger and always approached everyday with a smile. Going over and above was his way of life and he treated everyone the way they would want to be treated. Don's sons not only lost a father, but lost their best friend, golf and hunting partner. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our family finds great comfort knowing our Dad has gone to be with his Savior and Lord. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dad's many friends, neighbors and co-workers for their tremendous support and kindness during our time of loss. The family would also like to thank the members and employees at Barton Creek Lakeside Country Club, the McQuay family and the Day family for help with the memorial service. A memorial service celebrating Don's life will be held Saturday, January 17, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. at Barton Creek Lakeside Country Club, 1800 Clubhouse Hill Drive, Spicewood, Texas. The family has requested that dress be casual attire. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Donald Roberson Fund at State Bank in La Grange, Texas to benefit the special needs of the mentally challenged at Ken Mar Residential Services where his eldest son resides. Assistance has been provided by Weed-Corley-Fish funeral home in Austin.
