Donald Rosselet Obituary

Donald William Rosselet, a former journalist in New Jersey, died January 16, 2026 at The Village at Gainesville. He was 90 years old.

The son of the late William R. and Marian (Chisholm) Rosselet, he was born March 29, 1935, in Orange, N.J., and lived in Springfield, Irvington and Long Valley, N.J. before moving to Rainbow Springs near Dunnellon in 1994. He moved in October 2018 to The Village, an independent-living community in Gainesville.

Mr. Rosselet, who served in the Army Counterintelligence Corps from 1958 to 1960, was employed by the Plainfield Courier-News, the Perth Amboy Evening News and the Elizabeth Daily Journal in New Jersey, the Easton Express in Pennsylvania, and radio stations WERA in Plainfield, N.J., and WTMC in Ocala, Fla. He also was a long-time member of, and employed by, the Newspaper Guild in Washington, D.C. Late in his career, contributed to the Newark Star-Ledger in New Jersey.

Upon retiring to Florida in late 1993. He served more than 10 years as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer in Citrus and Marion counties, participating in the construction of, and fund-raising for, more than a dozen homes in the Dunnellon area for low-income families. For much of the time, he headed Dunnellon volunteers and served on the board of directors of both county affiliates. Earlier, he was a volunteer member of a senior-citizens housing corporation in Springfield, N.J. He was a lifelong woodworker and enjoyed gardening.

Since relocating to Florida, Mr. Rosselet was a member of the Crystal River, Dunnellon and Fairfield Presbyterian churches and elected an elder at two of them. He also was an elder at Long Valley (N.J.) Presbyterian Church and was a long-time member of, and earlier served on the official board of, a United Methodist church in New Jersey, where he and his late wife were married in 1975.

He was the husband for nearly 42 years of Martha C. Rosselet, who died April 19, 2017. A younger sister, Doris R. Hanafee, predeceased Mr. Rosselet; her husband James of San Ramon, California, and two nephews in California survive. Two uncles, Sgt. Raymond C. Chisholm and 2nd Lt. John U. Rosselet, were killed in action in the closing days of World War I and World War II, respectively.

In accordance with the deceased's wishes, there will be no memorial service. Cremation was entrusted to Fero Funeral Home in Beverly Hills, and the ashes will be inurned next to his wife in the Fero Memorial Gardens cemetery, also in Beverly Hills.

Memorials are suggested to the Dunnellon Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1069, Dunnellon, FL 34430, or Hospice of Marion County, P.O. Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478-4860.
