Donald ROSSELET Obituary

Donald Edward Rosselet, 73, of Spokane, left us too soon. He passed unexpectedly of natural causes on the 25 of April. He was born in Seattle, WA on November 24, 1948, to Helen and Alfred Rosselet (predeceased). He attended Gonzaga Prep and graduated in 1967. He played Halfback on the varsity football team for 3 years, leading the GSL in yards gained, and was All-State in Football and Track. He went on to play for the Spokane Community College football team and won the National Championship in 1968, after which he enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves. Don Married Diane Woeppel in 1971 and while not remaining married, they were friends throughout their lives, traveling together for family events. Don was a 25-year member of the Teamsters Union and served passionately as a contract negotiator while working at Super Value. During the '80s and '90s, he enjoyed sailing on Lake Coeur d'Alene, traveling to Sarasota, Florida, and remodeling investment properties with his daughter. He retired at age 55. For his second career, Don became an agent at the Manito Branch of Windermere Real Estate Co. He volunteered in the pediatric wing of the Providence Medical Center and was a member of the BMW Owner's and Motorcycle Owner's clubs and rode with friends on trips throughout the west. He had a passion for hotrods, vintage cars, and BMW motorcycles. He enjoyed planting flowers in the garden, golfing with friends, and riding the Centennial Trail. In the summer you would have found Don at Priest Lake making huckleberry pancakes for his grandkids. Don was loyal and devoted to those he cared for; he was our rock, and he is deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving daughter Sarah Rosselet, husband Chris Allen and grandchildren Nevada, August, Cormac, and Alden; former wife and friend Diane Rosselet; brother Al Rosselet, nieces Kelly (Herb) Hilton and Michelle Rosselet, nephew David (Paula) Rosselet; sister Sue Rosselet, niece Laura (Joe) Morrier, nephew Bob (Tracy) Rosselet; and 14 grandnieces and nephews, and of course, The Gang of 6. A Celebration of Life will be held at Timbers on Pacific, Thursday, May 19 at 4 pm, 116 W Pacific Ave Spokane WA 99201. I want to send my heartfelt condolences to the Rosselet family. Don and I played a lot of baseball and football both together and against each other prior to high school and during high school. He was always fast and elusive. It grieves me to lose so many childhood friends. May God's Blessings be on him and his family. An Old Friend, Mike Schmidt

Don was a good friend of my older brother Mike/Miguel. I admired Don way back in the Our Lady of Fatima Days when he was on the receiving end of passes from my older brother. Don was always fun to be around. He exuding joy and respect for life, himself, and others. His attendance at my brother's funeral in August, 2021 was much appreciated. RIP. My condolences to his family and friends.

I met Don at Spokane Community College football team in the fall of 1968. One day at defensive practice I rushed a punt and found an opening through the line, before I could take 3 steps I was hit by a moving wall straight in the chest with the sound of a car crash, which threw me back to the line of scrimmage flat on my back. Coach Pool looked at me as I lay there asking me if I was ok. I said I was good. Thanks Don for letting me know my future in football. Don was an outstanding football player, student and person. I was fortunate to have met him during my time at SCC. To his family and friends, please accept my condolences for your loss. Semper Fi, Rest in Peace.
