Donnal Dean Maloney, Jr, 60, of Beebe, Vermont died on Saturday September 17, 2011 in Lebanon, NH. During his final hours, Don was surrounded by his loving family, sharing many memories with us, including his beloved daughter, Maia (via cell phone) from London, England.
He was the beloved son of Dean and Rita Maloney, born in Newport, Vermont on August 7, 1951.
Don was a passionate and gifted math and science Teacher. During his teaching career, he taught middle school, high school, and college students in the Newport and Orleans area. His gift of teaching touched many students of all ages.
Don was a graduate of Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, he attended Columbia University in New York City and obtained his masters degree from Johnson State College in Johnson, VT.
He was a talented pianist and he was also an avid cyclist, mountain climber, skier, and traveler. One of his greatest trips was with his son Seth (the light of his life) to the beautiful southwestern United States.
Don leaves many loving relatives including his parents, Dean and Rita Maloney of Newport, VT, his son Seth Maloney of Hardwick, VT, his daughter Hiata and her husband Steffan of Duxbury, VT, his daughter Maia and her husband Jess of London, England. Don was predeceased by his son Ben in 1985. He also leaves behind his sister Darin (Dari) and her husband Norm of Monkton, VT, his Uncle Andy and his wife Wanda of Derby, VT, and his Aunt Pat of Bradenton, Fla. He leaves behind his dear cousins Skip and his wife Val of Coventry, VT, Rick and Ann of Newport Center, VT, Terry and his wife Julie of Burlington, VT, Gigi and her husband Tony of Derby, Tonya and her husband Jeff of Ferrisburg, Tina and her husband Harold of Montpelier, Jim and his wife Sue of Milton. He also leaves behind many close friends and colleagues throughout Vermont and the United States.
The family of Donnal Maloney thank the many family members, friends, and medical staff who lovingly supported Don and his family throughout the last few months.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday October 1, 2011 at St. Edward's Cemetery in Derby Line.
