Dora Wilkinson Hicks, 81, went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Known to her family as Mimi, she was a native of Newnan, GA, and the daughter of the late Frank Stacy and Florence Gertrude Wilkinson. Mimi was a homemaker, faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother, and a prayer warrior for those she loved. After graduation from Newnan High School, she attended Agnes Scott College, Atlanta, GA where she received a Bachelor's degree in Greek and Bible. She was a member of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Jim Fuller Hicks, and five children: Dr. James Stacy Hicks (Ruth) of Knoxville, TN, Bonnie Hicks Griffith (Bobby), Glenn Alan Hicks (Nancy), Kimberley Hicks Westbury (Keith) and Kenneth Eugene Hicks (Lori), all of Greenville; one sister Ibby Turnipseed (Lonnie) of Lansfield, PA, and fourteen grandchildren: Blair, James, Emma, Millie, Jordan, Brooks, Walker, Wilson, Matthew, Thomas, Charles, Claire, Fuller and Lucy. She was predeceased by her brother Frank Stacy Wilkinson of Harelson, GA.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Mackey Mortuary, Greenville, SC. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Mackey Mortuary. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC. The family is at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Ronald McDonald House, 706 Grove Rd., Greenville, SC 29605, as well as The Missions Fund at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, 207 Mitchell Rd., Greenville, SC, 29615.

Dr.Hicks and family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Oh, but Heaven is rejoicing and Dora is now sitting at the feet of her Lord and Savior. How my mom loved Dora! And Dora loved my mom! I'd like to think they are together like old times. Sharing Bible verses & catching up on the couple of years they've been apart. I know you will miss Dora every day. To Dr. Hicks, Stacy, Bonnie, Glenn, Kimberley and Kenneth...I was very saddened to learn about the death of Mrs. Hicks. I remember her as being one of the sweetest people I know, not to mention her subtle but wonderful sense of humor. I will always cherish the memories of spending time with the Hicks family. My mother, Katherine McKoy Ehling attended Agnes Scott College with Ibbie so that's how she met Dodie. Later their friendship blossomed as they had kids the same ages. Dodie was a beautiful lady with an infections laugh , a wonderful personality and a true interest in others. She leaves behind a legacy of love & devotion. All who knew her will have the happiest of memories. She will be greatly missed.
