Not sure what to say?

I wish I didn't live in NY STATE, right now. If I lived closer, I would be attending your Memorial services today. May you rest in Peace Dorothy. You had a life well lived. God Bless you. Kathleen Dalheim

I met Dorothy 14 years ago through my mother. Two gals from Jefferson Park living at Brookdale Lakeview on the lakefront. When Mom passed away, I continued to visit Dorothy and her lively dinner companions, eat at "old" neighborhood haunts, and continually cheer on the Cubs. As time marched on and our outings developed into a friendship I began to observe her as a mentor and model for aging gracefully . Always a life long learner, Dorothy and I would have many philosophical discussions,...

Dorothy you are a remarkable woman. I look up to you. When I saw you on the news sky diving at 100 years old and now at 104, I said out loud " You go Grams" it was so cool to see you so happy and not at all afraid. I keep telling my family I am shooting for the 100 mark, God willing. My Dad's father lived to be 100 and my Dad's sister 105. So I guess I could have a shot at it. So sad to see you are gone so soon. Glad you got to do this last jump. I am 65 so I got a few years to go yet. May...

God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Let her legacy continue. May Jehovah comfort your hearts.

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.

Dorothy was very special. I became friends with her about 7 years ago. I had dinner a couple of times with her in her building and we always had the best time. She will be missed very much. Age meant nothing to her. She was ageless. I also remember going to her apartment and winding her clocks. She had so many. That was pretty funny.

Prayers for the Hoffner family, May all of your many beautiful memories bring you peace as you endure your time of loss.

I'm a fellow resident of Brookdale Lakeview, who met Dorothy nine years ago, when I first moved in. I was busy trying to navigate the winding hallways of the building without getting lost, eating my dinner at a table for one, just settling in, you know. One day, as I was heading for the dining room, a lively little lady came up to me and said, "You're going to eat with us, aren't you?" I said, "Um...sure!" and that was the beginning of our friendship. Dorothy was the heart and soul of a...
