DOROTHY A. SAUNDERS, 79 ROCKFORD - Dorothy A. Saunders, 79, passed away at 9:45 p.m., on May 23, 2015 in Presence Cor Mariae Center. Born Nov. 16, 1935 in Rockford, daughter of Victor and Ruth (Gustafson) Sjolin. Married to Gerald Saunders in Rockford on Nov. 23, 1957. He predeceased her in 1993. Formerly employed by Valspar, Inc. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting. Survivors include, son, Steven (Donna) Saunders of Rockford; grandchildren, Kyle Saunders of Rockford, Ryan (Vicktoria) Saunders of Belvidere, IL, Amanda Saunders, Michelle Saunders and Eric Saunders; great-grandson, Hudson Saunders; sisters, Lois Smith and Audrey (Julius) Pearson,; brother, Robert (Sally) Sjolin; and closest friend, Connie Conery. Predeceased by sons, David, Dale and Kenneth. Visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015, with service to begin at 11 a.m. in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, IL, with the Rev. Jay Quinn officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family. Online condolences may be left at sundbergfh.com.

To the Saunders family; I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Dorothy taking my Mom(Hilda) & Alice on many day trips; they always had a great time. She was a very giving person & I know she is missed. Take care.
