Douglas Edward Byrd, of Alberta, VA, passed away on January 18, 2021, at his home peacefully. He was proceeded into death by his mother Jaqueline H. Byrd.


Douglas's life started in Richmond, VA where he became a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church with his mother, and family. Douglas attended Richmond Public School Education System and later learned multiple trades. Douglas found his joy and passion in Auto Mechanic, Construction/ Home Repair work.


He later in life moved to Alberta, VA where he married his beloved wife Annette and continued working his passion. Douglas was a man who loved his family, kids, and most of all his grandchildren, that will truly miss him. His laughing memories will continue for many years.


Douglas Byrd leaves to cherish in his memory his loving wife of 20 years Annette Byrd of Alberta, Va. His father Roosevelt O. Byrd, Sr., five daughters Kimberly A. Lockett, Latisha M. (Gregory) Robinson, Brandy C. Fleming, Doree E. Byrd, Megan V. Byrd, devoted son Douglas L Byrd, and two devoted Stepdaughters Rhonda Moore, and Shonda Moore-Stevens (Treavor). A host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His siblings Roosevelt O. Byrd Jr, Denise B. (Cain) Myles, Ramon F. Byrd two brother-in-laws Thomas (Mary) and Joseph Burns (Ethel) two sister-in-laws Wanda White (John) and Juanita Burns. One uncle Clearance Ransome Jr, of San Diego, CA, and a host of nieces and nephews. Douglas leaves a devoted Godson Kabongo Ngandu, and devoted nephew Marcus Burns, several devoted friends Larry Rhodes, Randell Coleman, Mr. & Mrs. Mullins, and DeWayne Wright. 

The Family of the late Douglas E. Byrd wishes to express heartfelt thanks for all the love, and support during this difficult time. Please continue the calls, visits, and prayers.


A funeral service will take place at 2 PM Sunday, January 24, 2021, on the grounds of the Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, Mckenney, VA. A public viewing will take place on Saturday also at the funeral home from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m.
