Douglas Casey Obituary

Douglas Leland Casey passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Constance "Connie" Laporte Casey. Loving father of D. Dale Casey (wife, Kim Nuccio Casey) and Dawn Constance Casey (fiancé, Chip Forstall). Loving grandfather of Garrett Stephen Casey and step-grandfather of Bryce Landry (wife, Nina). Brother of Darlene Casey Rogers and the late Donald Gilbert Casey. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Born to the late Donald Albert Casey and Sarah Gilbert Casey on October 16, 1938 in New Orleans, LA, where he remained a resident for much of his life. Doug spent many years working in pharmaceutical sales for Abbott Laboratories in the southern region. He and Connie were residents of Mobile, AL for 6 years and Birmingham, AL for 4 years, before moving back to the New Orleans, LA area. After Doug and Connie settled back down in the New Orleans area, they opened the first printing company in Kenner, LA, which they owned for 20 years. Doug was a New Orleans and Louisiana historian in his spare time, with a special interest in the Hennessy Assassination. As a business owner in Kenner, he became involved in many different business associations. He was past president of the Kenner Rotary, member of the Kenner Business Association, and held various positions in the New Orleans Yacht Club over the years. After retiring, he spent all of his time in the New Orleans historical sections of the libraries, continuing to feed his love for the area's history and culture until the day he passed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 4201 Transcontinental Dr. (near W. Esplanade), in Metairie, LA at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 22, 2017. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Doug's honor to Jefferson Beautification, a non-profit organization formed in 1990 to provide funding for tree planting and beautification projects on public green spaces in Jefferson Parish and to promote tree planting and beautification through education and public awareness. Connie and family - The hurt is there caused by the loss, but the memories of Doug, a wonderful friend and business man out-ways the moment. We will keep all in our daily prayers.
