I still can't understand. He was my doctor, mentor and in the end friend. I called and got through and he invited me to drop in for a drink. Always gracious.

Doug will always be remembered as a puckish neighbor and fellow book club member. His wit was often buried in mock seriousness and a professorial manner; underneath, one always felt like we might be sharing a private joke. I can never enter Antoine's again without fond recollections of our private dining room there, sharing 25-cent martinis and critiquing the latest book (which had to meet Doug's approval as a selection, or be subject to explicit criticism). I looked forward to every meeting. He is missed.

Rejoice in a life well-lived! I am a friend of Kevin's since the early 70s. Dr. Doug had an amazing intellect and wit. He lived an extraordinary life. It is an honor to have known him. Condolences to the Greve Family for the loss of your Patriarch.

Doug was a valiant personality and a great therapist, who I was lucky to have known and learn from. He helped us greatly at the Gestalt Institute of New Orleans for many years. Although my mother passed away four years ago, I know she considered him to be her very special friend. I personally appreciate the knowledge that he shared with me and our discussions about our field. Now that he's moved to a higher dimension, he's no doubt of great service there.

The Final Salute
Brothers in Arms, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged Hand Salutes as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This Hand Salute is the last that we shall render to Douglas William Greve our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Doug. And to Doug it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Korean War while serving in the U.S. Army. Doug, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,061 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Doug's family and loved ones.

I met Doug through LGPA. He was a kind, gentle man. His imprint is indelible though in this life he was more than likely less aware of his impact as a teacher.
Carol...My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

The world is a little darker for his loss but a little better for his having been here. He was a friend and mentor; and I'm a better human because of Doug Greve. Doug was truly extraordinary in every sense of the word.

Doug was a delightful man - I knew him as a friendly neighbor, book-club raconteur (where his puckish wit often made me shake my head), lunch arranger (our room at Antoine's should be named for him)and a model for a life well lived and for aging with a defiant grace. I will miss him. Lyn and I send our condolences and best wishes to Carol and the family.
