After so many months, I am so very sorry to just hear of Doug’s passing. I was a patient of Doug’s, must be over 30 years, and just heard when I asked about him in the office today.
I “knew” Doug very briefly in1966-67 when I met him when I was a pledge to Delta Upsilon at U of I Champaign.
I didn’t see him again until more than a decade later when I went to the dentist, and Dr. Weidman walked in!!! Apparently he had just taken over the practice! I said, I don’t know if you remember me, but we were briefly in the same fraternity long ago!
He was too nice a guy to say so if he didn’t, but no matter, he was the keeper of my smile for many decades. And I always had a smile for him when we’d catch up on family and things at the next appointment.
I am honored to have known him as a part of my life.
Offering my prayers for all his family,
John Lev

Doug was one of those special guys who was lost too early. He was loved by all he came in contact with. Besides being a terrific human being, he was a great dentist as well. I learned a lot from him.

I'm so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. He was a yoga student of mine for many years at Lifetime Fitness and he was a delight. My deepest sympathy to Judy and your family.

Judy, Matt, Brad and Greg- everyone in our family is thinking of you during this difficult time. Not only was Doug clearly the best dentist on the planet, but he was as kind, generous, welcoming and as level headed as one could ever imagine. I'll never forget the Wednesday night dinners with the boys (Fudruckers!), going to the Bulls games, swimming in your back yard and having Doug as our baseball coach. I always felt like he was a second dad growing up. Judy- you and Doug were there for my parents in tough times and they never forgot the loyalty/friendship you both showed over the years. I think that is something to be very proud of and, in my opinion, the ultimate compliment from my perspective. I still miss having Doug work on my teeth, it's just not the same anymore. To Matt, Brad and Greg- time will help you get through this; but I know it is hard when you lose someone that meant that much to you. Judy- I don't know how it feels to lose a spouse but I know it has to be as hard and most likely harder than losing a parent. I hope you find peace and comfort knowing how many lives Doug has positively impacted.
With Love,
Joel, Amy & Dylan Harris
