Not sure what to say?

My dad, Charles, just told our family that he went to Duane's funeral. It's hard to remember specifics since I was so little, but the only people I remember from attending my dad's Marine meetings were Dwayne & Peggy. I loved them! I think Dwayne ran the meetings. Very proud Marine, like my dad. Slight memory of Kimberly and Cory. It was nearly 40 years ago. I'm SO saddened to hear this. I actually plan to move back to Texas next year from Denver to be closer to my parents as they age....

I first knew Duane as a patient of mine but soon joined with him as a member of the Texas Association of Former Marines. Working with Duane when he was President of the organization for several years was a very gratifying experience as he was an exceptional leader. It is not an exaggeration for me to say that Duane was one of the finest people I ever knew in my lifetime. God rest your soul, my friend.

Rest In Peace brother. Mike Capps

I've known Duane as a friend and extended family member for most of my life, since we attended Bellaire High together back in the '60s. Although we've lived far apart for many years, he has been a warm and welcoming presence whenever our paths have crossed. I especially admired and respected him as a wonderful parent to Cory and Kim when they were growing up, and I know he was a beloved grandfather too. He will be greatly missed.

RIP Marine! Served with Duane in the USMC at TBS in Platoon F1. He also served in my 1st Mar Div Aerial Observer unit in Vietnam after I had transferred stateside. Semper Fidelis!

We were the best of friends growing up in Bellaire. Many fond memories as we became adults, but nothing compared to those we shared in Junior High and at Bellaire High.. I guess we never have close friends like the ones we have when we are young. I hope I see him again in a place full of joy and peace.
