Edie was like a 2nd mother to me. My parents, Betty and John Rice passed away very young. Edie let me live with her and my 3 girls, when we moved back from FLA for a month till we could find a place to live. I will always remember her cottage cheese with Frito chips!!!!

Edie was a close friend of my mother, Dolores (Smith) King, especially after they became next door neighbors on Calle del Oro in the early 70s. As such, Edie was a major and vital part of my life, always warm, friendly and happy to chat and exchange reminiscences with me on the many occasions I went next door to visit. On more than one occasion she even hosted both me and my hyperactive toddler of a son when he got to be too much for his grandparents - a true sign of friendship if ever there...
