Edna Houck Obituary

Edna passed away peacefully on Sunday February 12, 2017, in Snohomish, WA. She was born December 25, 1923, to Anna and Frank Bueler on their farm in the Snohomish Valley. Edna graduated from Snohomish High School in 1942 where she met the love of her life, Bob Houck. They were married in St. Michaels Catholic Church, August 18, 1945. Much to Dad's delight, Mom could drive a tractor, and together they farmed raising cattle as well as crops, including corn which they picked and delivered to local markets. Mom was also the bookkeeper for Houck Brothers' Hay Company which she and Dad ran with two of their sons, Tony and Jerry. She and Dad loved to travel to Eastern Washington scouting out the perfect load of hay. This was especially convenient, as it was usually on the way to Reno, NV. They loved to travel together and did so frequently. They had a great time wherever they went, and we're so happy that they are together once again. Bob and Edna raised eight children. Mom made every house a warm and comfortable home, complete with a beautiful garden and delicious meals. There was always room at the table for a friend or neighbor, and there was almost always one or two there. Mom was proud of her Swiss heritage and a member of the Monroe Swiss Colony. She was also a member of The American Legion Earl Winehart Post 96. Mom was preceded in death by, her beloved Bob, and son-in-law, Thomas Bigelow, her parents, and treasured brothers, sisters, and cousins from both the Bueler and Houck Families. She is survived by her children, Richard Houck, Kristy and Jack Willis, Tony and Janine Houck, Roberta and Andy Tassani, Jerry Houck and Shari Houck, Joanne Bigelow and Barry McGee, Jim and Helen Houck, Beth and Scott Campbell; numerous grand-children, and great grandchildren (more on the way!) all of whom she loved so much. Service will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church on Friday February 17, 2017. Rosary at 10:15, Funeral Mass at 11:00. Reception immediately following in the Parish Hall. Burial at GAR Cemetery. We would like to thank the caring staff at Pacifica Snohomish, and also Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County for their wonderful service.
