Pete and I enjoyed a long-time friendship with Ed and admired his integrity. I was very grateful for Ed's thoughtfulness when he brought Pete's photograph to me that had hung at SCV headquarters when we met at the MOS&B Convention in Waco. I'll always miss Ed. Rest in peace, dear friend.

I remember Ed as a fine gentleman and dedicated patriot. In many respects he was a role model for me. Ed will be sorely missed and forever engraved in my memory.

I met Ed while I was a member of the Louisiana Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a true Southern gentleman of the old school style. My image of him is the impeccably dressed man in a white linen suit. He knew history and he was proud to be a Confederate descendent. So proud to have been acquainted with him. Rest In Peace, sir.

Please accept my condolences for the passing of a true Southern gentleman. Ed was one of both my parents' good friends and stalwart colleagues in the SCV. He could always be counted on to attend and even to pitch in and lend a hand for activities. His ready smile and friendly nature towards myself and my new fiancé made her feel welcome at the 2013 convention in Vicksburg. He entertained us with some wonderful stories of my late mother's interactions. He drove into town to attend the meetings of our Camp to provide moral support, although he was not a member of that Camp. I will always remember how proud he was to participate in the 2011 reenactment of the Louisiana secession convention, playing the part of his ancestor Gov. Moore. Each time I ran into him was enriching. I only wish there had been more such occasions. Ed will not be forgotten.
I hope the family will forgive the tardiness of this submission. It was originally submitted some time ago but was not posted due to a computer error by the host site. Thanks to the legacy folks for responding to my inquiry. Dr. Bernard E. "Ben" Eble III

I got to know Ed over the last year or so of his life, and even then only in brief phone calls and email exchanges regarding membership in the Louisiana Society of the Military Order of the Stars and Bars. Ed was unfailingly helpful in guiding me through that process, and spoke eagerly of attempting to renew interest in MOSB's Louisiana Society. My handful of interactions with Ed led me to the inescapable conclusion that the man with whom I was dealing was a true gentleman Southerner and patriot. I only wish I had gotten to know him better. Requiescat in pace, sir.
