EDWARD COBB Obituary

COBB--Edward Ray, of Manhattan and Kerhonkson, NY, died suddenly of a heart attack on April 15, 2011, at the age of 53. Eddie was the loving partner for 29½ years and spouse for two and a half years of David Glaser. Born in Reidsville, North Carolina, he was the son of Robert Edward Cobb and the late Mary Elizabeth Cobb. An actor, singer, costume and interior designer, Eddie worked in theatre, cabaret and film. He appeared in many plays in New York and throughout the country, including the original New York casts of Robert Patrick's Untold Decades, and John Glines' On Tina Tuna Walk and Body and Soul. He received the Robby Award as Best Actor in a Comedy for his performance in the Los Angeles production of On Tina Tuna Walk. A supporter of numerous charities and an outspoken advocate of human rights causes, Eddie particularly believed in the mentoring of gay and transgender youth. He touched the lives of all who knew him. A memorial celebration of Eddie's life will be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel in Manhattan, on May 22, 2011 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Human Rights Campaign.

David, I was a schoolmate of Eddie's, and a friend of his, acting in a few hs plays with him. I am so, so sorry for your loss,& the stage's loss. He was a true star, and always looked to the sky. I am not surprised he soared so successfully. Please know that you have my deepest sympathy, and wish for the world for you he were sitting by your side.

Eddie will always truly be 'with' us every day as the seeds he planted we gladly sow with the love in our hearts. Eddie was very special to our family and his support and friendship are priceless. Every time I see an orchid, my heart will break, and I will smile at his memory.
