Not sure what to say?

out of curiosity I searched for Ed's name. I was saddened to hear that he had passed away.I was the band director at George C. Marshall HS when Ed was the football coach there. What a coach he was. Ed was a renaissance man. He had wide-ranging interests and music was one of them. He visited my classroom and rehearsal frequently and encouraged my students. The mere fact that he took interest in what we were doing was and is an anomaly. I learned a lot from Ed and I thank him for the interest...

Greatest conversation of my life was sitting next to Ed and Roberta at a UVA baseball game in Jax. He had on the classic orange hat with V, I said at least he had the right hat and we talked for 4 hours. I commented on his watch and he said it was from the Peach Bowl when he was on Georges coaching staff. He was so casual about his success. He said we had some success there in describing his HS coaching years. Roberta said George Welsh said he was the best hire he ever made. He told me...

Coach Ed Henry was one of the greats in Va High School Football history. I played for him for 2 years at Robinson High 1980-82. My freshest memories are the butt chewings he gave me during practice and games! LOL. My family moved away from VA after my junior year, and I never had the chance to see Coach again. The memories came flooding back after seeing the movie, "Remember the Titans" back in 2000. Of course I had no knowledge of Coach's coaching career when I was a young high school...

Dear Roberta and family,
It with sadness that I have just learned of Ed's passing in October. I have fond memories of your entire family as I taught some, if not all, your children at Robinson as a teacher of mathematics in seventh grade. I have always appreciated the reading class you taught for adults. May God give you His Peace and Comfort.
Much love in Christ,

Carol, I was so sorry to learn of your Dad's passing. I know how difficult losing your father can be. Although I didn't know your Dad personally, I feel like I did through all the people I knew who had the pleasure of being coached by him and admired him. My heart goes out to you all. Blessings, hugs & prayers to your family @ this difficult time. Coach was one of my coaches my final year @ UVA. Saw him just a few years ago @ a Spring Football Reunion. Told him he was much better looking than his movie counterpart. We shared a wonderful laugh. He's quite a guy & will be missed!!!

Condolence to the entire Henry family. As each of that played for coach Henry at VMI know, he was a great coach with the quickest of wits, giant smile and could fire us up like nobody else. I'll miss you coach.

Coach Henry set high standards for the players he coached, but they were the same standards he followed himself. His players respected him and reached goals they may have felt could not be reached. Rest in peace coach!

Roberta and Family,
So sorry to her about Ed. As a member of the Annandale 1966 State Championship team, Ed will be remembered by all. He taught us the lesson of life on the football field. I have fond memories of Ed and Roberta having the entire team over at their house on Sunday nights to watch game film. God Bless Ron Klingensmith
