HUBERT

Edward J. Hubert, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 4th, 2017. Ed, beloved husband of Joann (Bernzott) Hubert, loving father of Cindy (Greg) Olson, Greg (Connie) Hubert and Brian (Laurie) Hubert. Cherished Papa to Noah, Abby, Ellie, Natalie, Ainsley, Chloe, Norah & Evan. Dear son-in-law of Julia Bernzott, brother to George “Butch” (Karen) Hubert and Sharon Hubert, brother-in-law to Bill (Andrea) Bernzott, Kathy (Greg) Kathman and Barb (Howard) Thomas. Ed built a career in the family business, Hubert Company, started by his Father in 1946 and growing it alongside his Dad, Mother, both siblings and brother-in-law Howard; with Joann providing likely the most support on the “Homefront".  He joked that he began his career sweeping floors at the age of eight and stopped working at Hubert Company when it was sold in 2000. Ed touched many in our community with a profound passion for giving. He was always curious, humble, sincere and a connector of problem solvers. He leveraged relationships & dollars to lift others. His heart of generosity knew no bounds. Most importantly, he enjoyed his grandkids beyond measure - often playing the role of Uber driver, cheerleader, morale booster, card/board game host, and much more. A pillar of Christian values. A good and faithful servant. A life well-lived. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 7th, 2017 from 10:00AM-12:30PM at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 5527 Cheviot Rd. (45247) followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00PM at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 5222 North Bend Rd. (45247). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Ignatius Tuition Assistance Fund, 5222 North Bend Rd, Cinti, OH, 45247 or St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1125 Bank Street, Cinti, OH 45214. www.mrfh.com

Not sure what to say?

I used to live in Over-the-Rhine, at the same time as Ed was busily engaged there. We were always close friends at heart. I say "at heart" because the heart is more important than the head. And Ed knew this. It has been years since I have had morning coffee with Ed. But we shared a deep Catholic faith, among other interests, as I am reminded by seeing the reference to St. Ignatius Loyola Church. Ed used to be a handsome and dashing fellow. He always had a smile on his face, a...

Business books could be written on the right way he grew a family business, the countless accomplishments and accolades awarded, details of fortunes made, and the hundreds of lives that were positively impacted could all be listed...but Ed would never have wanted it that way. He is best remembered for being such an incredibly friendly, outgoing, kind and helpful person. I will never forget his smile and infectious optimism. The world was left a better place because of Ed Hubert. Rest in peace.

What a legacy Ed has earned...as a husband, a father, a brother, a grandfather, an uncle, as a servant of God....and touching so many. Even strangers. May the family find comfort in his life that was so LIVED!
My deepest sympathy, Sally Weiss

Ed helped to employ over 700 teenagers!

In case you ever wondered what an Angel looks like in person....

Here is Ed after giving 2 random kids brand new winter coats one day. That was Ed. Your image and character will always light the path for others to follow.

Joanne,
You and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers. Ed was so supportive of the work we did in OTR in support of the affordable housing cause. He was always ready to help us financially but more importantly with his advice and contacts in the community. He will be greatly missed.

Joann, so sorry to hear of Ed's passing I know he will be greatly missed. I will always think of him fondly for all the advice and support he gave me. I will never forget the Hubert Foundation and all it did for Living Hope Transitional Homes.

Thinking of your families, Greg and Connie during this time. May the memories of a great father and grandfather help you through the upcoming days.
