My father, George Smudin Sr. was a POW with Mr Isbell and always spoke about him. I found a short story on line a long time ago written by Mr Isbell that mentioned my father. May he Rest In Peace

We were blessed with meeting Ed Isbell through his son, Chuck and his family. Ed was always a joy to be around and always, always had a beautiful smile to share! God took one of His best home! and we shall miss him.

We want to express our sincere condolences to the Isbell family at the loss of Mr. Isbell.
I had the pleasure of becoming friends with him while researching another WWII paratrooper veteran.
Mr. Isbell personified the "Greatest Generation". He honorably served his nation during WWII as a Paratrooper assigned to Company "E", 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Mr. Isbell rose to the rank of Sergeant and was a qualified paratrooper and radio section chief.
