Passed away at his home in Cary, NC, on June 23, 2005. A long-time resident of Northern Virginia, he and his wife moved to Cary, NC, three years ago to retire. Ted worked as a firefighter for 17 years at the Burke Fire Station No. 14 before going on to own Fairfax Hay and Grain and later Davis General Store in Clifton, VA. He had a great love for bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan McKay and sister, Janice L. McKay. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary T. McKay; daughter, Teresa Lussier (James); son, Robert McKay (Pati); son, Thomas McKay (Rhonda) and daughter, Carolyn McKay. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Karen, David, Danielle and Benjamin Lussier and Rachel and Holly McKay; brother, Buddy McKay (Carole); several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and close friends. Friends may call at EVERLY FUNERAL HOME, 10565 Main St., Fairfax, VA, on Tuesday, June 28, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 5222 Sideburn Rd., Fairfax, VA 22032, on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at 11 a.m. Inurnment St. Mary's Historic Cemetery, Fairfax, on Friday, July 1, 2005 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ted's name to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary's St., 4th Floor, Raleigh, NC 27605.
