Not sure what to say?

This man was my mentor when I was growing up. I enjoyed his family as they were my own. I am 74 now and will never forget his love and kindness. He taught me how to play ball when I was young. He had the best mom and dad ever. His dad was an insurance agent and he gave me policy when I was a kid. He even introduced me to White Ford a baseball player for the Reds. Best wishes for his family.!!

I was a very green freshman when I met
Eddie at I.U. He was kind and helpful person. My blessing to all the family.

Mr.Whitehead was a great great man. He always had a postive outlook on life and loved sports. He is one of several African American male role models from Madison,Indiana that have led the way to lead by example. Don't be afraid Follow Dreams and Do not quit.... These words will not be forgotten.

He will be missed but NOT FORGOTTEN.

Larry Humes Jr.

Dawn, I am so sorry for your family's loss.

There is one word that describes Ed -- gentleman. He was the personification of all that word contains. Kind, caring, intelligent, generous with his spirit and his humor, proud and humble at the same time -- yes, a true gentleman. It was my honor to know him, work with him in sports and benefit from his wisdom. God Bless Ed and his family.

Dawn and family, I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of your father. By all accounts he sounds like one of a kind. What a legacy for you! May all of your beautiful memories sustain you during the harder moments. Jane Talla (OIA)

I was so sad to hear of Ed's passing. I remember him so fondly from my days working for the Colts and also seeing him at Pacers games. He always had a big hug for me whenever I saw him and would always ask about my family. I know how much he treasured his family and I am terribly sorry for your loss. Ed was a great man who will be missed.

I was sorrowful when I learned of Eddie's passing. My prayers go out to you Paula, Noble and the family. My heart is flooded with memories with Eddie at John Paul Park and the many dice baseball days at his house in Madison. He will be greatly missed but he will always be in our hearts and minds.

To Paula, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband. My sympathy and prayers are with you and family. Claudia Carver-Long
