Not sure what to say?

I worked with Mr. Ed many years on the railroad and he really knew how to run a railroad and was a Superintendent, I will always cherish the telephone call to him on his 87 birthday on September 29, 2012 wishing him a happy birthday. He was a dear friend and woll be greatly missed.

I can't begin to express the sadness that this news brings to Yvonne and myself. A dear friend since early 1970's.

Ed was more to me than a second cousin. He was a man of great character and I admired him very much. I am thankful that I got to spend some one on one time with him and Jack over the last several years. The world was a better place because of Ed Wilkes. He will be missed but I will see him again in glory. I pray for comfort for all of us who are his family and friends. We remember his life here and we rejoice that he is with Almighty God now and forever more.

I was blessed to be part of Mr. Wilkes life and met him shortly after his daughter was diagnosed. We spent many years, days and hours together and I would not trade one minute. I have many wonderful memories of the family and I cherish the time that we had together but I know that he is at peace and God has received a very special angel. My thoughts are with the family during this time.

I love the Wilkes! I was out of town when Mr. Wilkes passed. His last words to me were you've been good to me Taylor, I love you, all i want is to be at peace. This man was.wonderful. His wife is an angel and i love her as well!

I've known and worked with
Ed since 1948, I've lost a friend and co-worker. My heart felt sympathy to all his family, the Lord has called a good man.

So sorry to hear about Ed's passing. I worked with Ed in Wilmington, NC at Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. Ed was a fine man and will be missed by all. Remember he is in a better place. God Bless the family.

Mr. Wilkes was a gentle soul and a true gentleman. During my years with Seaboard Coast Line, he was always available and offered support and guidance. He kept a sense of humor, even when times were not. I offer much gratitude to him for helping my career with the railroad.

Mr. Wilkes was a friend to everyone he touched, whether her was a coworker, a supervisor or a casual acquaintance. He epitomized the term "southern gentleman". I am fortunate to have known and served under him as an employee of the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad.
