He really was all these great things that are said about people on their passing. He had a passion for children and teaching and for life. I remember him well as my 5th grade teacher at Temple Hill. I'm sorry to hear if his passing and my condolences to the family.

Mr. Winfield taught me to expect more of myself and the students that I teach. He has a legacy that expands beyond Newburgh, NY. I have carried his thoughts, expectations and hope with me for the past 30 years of teaching.

Mr Winfield was my FAVORITE teacher! 5th grade Temple Hill. Jan-Jun 1974. Reading his obit I now understand all the RUNNING we had to do! That's the year I realized I could run, FAST! I only had him 1/2 year as a transfer student and he was my favorite from day 1. He smelled great too! I think he wore old spice and whenever I smelled old spice it brought back happy memories.
