Ed was my favorite business friend for more than 20 years when I worked in the Atlanta area. Always a gentleman and helping me with trading ideas, Ed was my "first call", which Salomon loved to know, whenever I had the next trade to propose. Dear Bette and family- I just learned of Edwin's death yesterday and was so very saddened. You have been all over my thoughts and my mind since that time. As you know, Edwin was a priceless man and I feel so grateful to have been his friend. You will remain on my heart and in my prayers. I am so very sorry for your loss. Corby Barkhaus

Hello Sweet Bette,
I was out of town last Monday and Tuesday and did not even hear about Edwin's passing until today. I was stunned and saddened and have had you and Edwin on my mind since learning the news this morning. Mercy, you have been an inspiration to me over the years. Edwin's ready smile, deep grattitude for his blessings, and way of speaking his truth will stay with us all, no doubt. I am so sorry for your loss, and so glad Edwin kept healing despite his illness. My family and I would like to send out our prayers and deepest sympathy to you all during this difficult time. I feel blessed to have known Mr. Hines back when Anne and I were at Oldfields. He was a loving and wonderful father. Please know you have a lot of support and love all around you!
