Eileen Rae Segal

Eileen was a board member and Officer of PetPALS of Southern NJ since its inception. She was a driving force in PetPALS until her health forced her to give up her position. She is one of the reasons that I decided to join the board of directors. She was an inspiration to all of us volunteers and her support to our clients and their pets never waivered. She will be greatly missed by all of us.

Eileen was my big cousin. That’s what she told me back in 57’ while sitting on her bed.
She was 14 years older; I was 7 and so I agreed.
Me and my family had gone back to Philly for a visit a couple years prior. I remember talking with her about animals in general. She had many all around her bedroom, and before leaving she gave me a little horse to take home. When we got back in Michigan I put the horse on my nightstand where it has remained ever since.

I met Eileen in the 1980's when we did pet therapy visits with AWA. She is one of the nicest, kindest people I've ever known. We met for lunch regularly until she moved to be closer to her family. I just found a picture of us & Nina at the March for Animals in 1996. May her memory be for a blessing. [email protected]
