Ellen Eve Amster was born in Brooklyn, New York, to the parents of Augusta and Jack Kalkin. She was the oldest of two siblings, the younger being Arthur John Kalkin (deceased). I was saddened to learn of Ellen Amster's passing. It has been many years since I have seen Ellen. I used to train and ride our horses with her husband Harvey in the 100-mile endurance rides each October on the famous Biltmore Estate and the ride in Umatilla, Florida in March.
