Not sure what to say?

i just googled Ellen Pence and found her obituary. It makes me very, very sad to realize it. She wrote me last year about her "terminal cancer" but I was hopeful, seeing her again giving speeches, like to Nomas (National Organization of men against sexism) this coming summer.
I was just planning to go there to see her again.
in 1991 I was in Duluth and invited DAIP to an International Conference in VIENNA. She and DAIP was very important for my work and the theory of...

Ellen invited me into a small women's community living above the Wesley United Methodist Church in Minneapolis after we were camp counsellors together in 1966. We had not seen each other since those intense and rebellious days, but we shared many of the same activist passions in the same movements over these years. The attached photo has Ellen seated 4th from the left bottom row and I have my arm around her. Our cohort Jan is sitting on the other side of Ellen.
I will plant a nut...

To Ellen's Family, Amanda & Liam, I am so sad I missed the memorial today because I am sick, myself. But I am eternally grateful I got to say good by to Ell & attend the wake. You gave something to my soul Ell, & that will live forever. All my love to you Amanda. Sharon (Phem)

My sympathies to all of Ellen's family. I went to school with Ellen. I didn't know her well but I would have to say that even then she was determined. Strangely, she is one of the few names I remember from grade school. Mary Lou

Truly a life well spent! I treasure the chance I had as a HS student watching Ellen facilitate leadership among blue collar families/ homeowners in SE MPLS in their effort to keep their homes and secure low interest loans to fix-up their homes rather than sell to developers. I learned a lot in the 1960-70's from Ellen and my mother about community organizing and building power. Ellen was a powerhouse on the basketball court as well!

My sympathies to Ellen's family. I first met Ellen when she was the speaker & auctioneer at the Angel Auction benefit hosted at Holy Name of Jesus to raise funds for Home Free, a domestic abuse shelter. She was one special lady & gave so much to so many, as did Diane. They are reunited in Christ's love but they will be missed by many. I offer my prayers to you all.

I'm sorry to hear of Ellen's passing altho some years ago she said ~ when I said she should slow down ~ "I have to do as much as I can while I still can", with a smile on her face. My condolences to the family. Anne Marshall, you know i will never forget you. I hope you are well. Peace to all.
