Elsie Sophie Jez

Elsie Sophie Jez Elsie Sophie Jez, 85, of Taylor left this world to live with our Lord on January 8, 2006. She was born to Annie (Kveton) and Frank Grieger on May 13, 1920 near Rice's Crossing. Later, she and her family moved to the Hoxie Community, where she and her brothers and sister were raised. On March 28, 1940, Elsie married her neighbor and sweetheart, Jarome L. Jez. Elsie's life centered around her church, family and friends. She enjoyed baking kolaches and participating in other church activities with the Christian Sisters of the Brethren Church. She loved playing dominoes with her friends, and planting vegetables in her garden. On Sunday her house had the aroma and flavor of homemade bread, kolaches, and an occasional special pork roast or soup filled with her homemade noodles. Elsie's kitchen was always a welcome gathering place for family and friends. Elsie lived her life in a loving, Christian manner which brought her and those who knew her much happiness. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Adolph Grieger and Fred Grieger. Elsie is survived by her son, Milton Jez and wife Ella of Taylor; grandsons, Bill Moore and Travis (TJ) Jez of Taylor; great-grandson, Tyler Moore of Taylor; sister Lydia Bryan of Houston; brother Elick Grieger and wife, Dorothy of Houston; a very special sister-in-law, Verna Mae Grieger; a dear friend, Lillian Kaspar; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Taylor Brethren Church with Rev. James Hejl officiating. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Taylor Brethren Church, 710 Sloan St., Taylor, Tx. in Elsie's memory.
