Emily Prince Obituary
Emily Lorraine Prince, 31, died Sunday, August 3, 2025 as a result of Huntington’s Disease while under the excellent care of Hospice of the Western Reserve in the inpatient unit at Hospice of Medina County.
She was born April 18, 1994 in Shelby to Kelly (Coleman) Prince and the late Derrick J. Prince. Emily grew up in Galion and graduated from Galion High School in 2012. She played softball in Little League and for the Tigers. She was very smart, intrigued by science, and earned an associate’s degree in Biosciences.
Emily will be remembered for her beautiful smile and positive outlook on life; despite the poor health she faced. She was a devoted big sister to her little sis and best friend, Elizabeth, and made friends everywhere she went. She was a fitness buff who loved working out and a gifted artist, painting nature canvases and gifting them to many grateful recipients. Family gatherings were cherished, and Emily was a devoted Christian who loved listening to Christian music. She also kept a special place for the heavy metal music she grew up listening to with her dad.
Emily’s family is grateful for the compassionate care given by Hospice of Western Reserve and the ministry of Chaplain Reggie Cureton who had the privilege of baptizing Emily the week before she was called into eternity.
Emily is survived by her mother, Kelly Prince (Scott Shenberger); sister, Elizabeth Prince (Preston Humes); and aunt, Amanda and Matt Smith. She is also survived by maternal grandfather, Gary Coleman along with aunts, uncles, and extended family.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by grandparents, Judy Coleman and James and Linda Prince.
While no public services are being held, friends are encouraged to make memorial contributions payable to Hospice of the Western Reserve. As a non-profit, donations will be used for direct patient care. These gifts can be sent to Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.
A sentiment dedicated to Emily by author, Lisa Waterer sends her off well: “May your smile forever be remembered and your unwavering faith always be an inspiration.”

I worked with Em at Dunham's. She was so diligent in obtaining her Bioscience degree. I'm a science enthusiast as well so we enjoyed talking about it! She was such a sweet young woman. My sister was a resident at JAG in Galion and I'd always make my way down to Em's bright pink room to spend at least a few minutes with her. I remember last Summer going to the courtyard to visit with her as she planted flowers. I loved working with her. I'll always remember her! -- I was her manager Winnie. Hugs to Elizabeth...
