Collier’s Funeral Home - Saint Ann Obituary

Eric Todd Lowing, age 56, passed away on December 22, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his family.

Eric is survived by his long-term partner Nancy Poteet, his three children, Daniel Lowing, Craig Lowing, and James Greer. He also leaves behind his mother Diane Miller, his brothers Kurt Lowing, William Lowing and Crawford Miller, and sister Shawna Miller. He is lovingly known as “Pawpaw Darkness” by his grandchildren and will be forever missed.

Eric was a Veteran of the US Armed forces in both the Air Force and Army serving a total of 6 years and was honored as Airman of the Month. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois and joined the military after graduating high school. After leaving the military, he was dedicated to his job of 31 years at Express Scripts as a Director for multiple areas within IT. Outside of work, he is known for his commitment to the American Legion at Post 397 in Creve Coeur where he was the Commander for 2 years and Elks Lodge 2058 in Manchester where he has served in several positions including ER. He was initially known just as “that really nice guy Eric” until they got to know him better and thought of him as the glue and backbone that kept everyone together. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Blackhawks and made sure you knew it. Above anything else, he was an amazing partner to Nancy and father to Dan, Craig, and James.

Memorial Visitation will be this Friday, December 27th at 4:00 pm at Collier’s Funeral Home Memorial Service 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association for research.

Not sure what to say?

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I worked with Eric twenty years ago. He was always thoughtful and insightful in what he had to say to me. Working with him taught me to aim higher in my life. As a result, I have lost over 100 pounds since I worked with Eric and I just celebrated ten years of continuous sobriety from alcohol and I try to live by the principal of stop, plan, think and then act. Thank you for these valuable life lessons. I made it to age 60 and I...

I still think of you all the time and are often the topic of conversation. I wish we had had so much more time together. I miss you so much. I do have one ask. Please put your hand on the shoulder of your older sons. Your leaving left an enormous whole in their hearts and they desperately need your help. Craig especially is in need of your guidance. Thank you, my Love. I will always Love you.

Still thinking about you, brother, and still missing you. Always.

Thinking always about you, brother. Miss you so much and your loving, kind heart and amazing person. I know you're up there with Jesus and the angels. So greatful you were one of my older brothers...you still motivate me to be the greatest person I can be so herr. Til we meetup again above - love Shawna

Eric was my first date in high school and I was so nervous I was afraid to talk to him for days afterwards! Lol! He was so sweet, tho, and never teased me about it. He was a tender hearted guy that I'd always regretted not staying in touch with. Rest well, my friend. Until we meet again! Condolences to the family.

Prayers and condolences to his family and friends

I knew Eric at MacDill AFB. We were good friends. At least I'd like to think we were. He even accomponied me when I went home once for a visit. We took his Monte Carlo. I only wish I'd kept in touch. I'm sorry.

To the Lowing Family,
I had just come home from being overseas for two weeks when I heard of Eric's Passing. I was so shocked and sad to hear the news. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He had a heart of Gold and really cared about everyone. Please accept my deepest condolences.
